A High Country Getaway
Whether you're visiting the High Country by yourself or with friends and family, we've got a range of accommodation to suit your needs and budget.
Our historic huts
With views of the Alpine National Park, hilly farmland and the Bundarra River, our huts are perfect for people who want to swap the modern world for a taste of traditional High-Country cattlemen's life.
We have two huts. O'Connells Hut is a cattlemen's log hut that was built in 1904 and Iron Hut is a corrugated iron hut that was originally built as a 'men's shed' workshop in the 1940s. Both huts offer comfortable, rustic, self-contained accommodation for people who love outdoor life, wood burners, gas lights, camp fires and an outdoor dunny. The huts have one open plan kitchen/living area with a double and single bed, and a bathroom off to the side of the main room. Towels and linen are provided, and dogs that are kept under control or on a lead are welcome.
Due to our remote location, there is no main power. We rely on solar and a small hydro system so appliances such as hairdryers won't work. There is no television and mobile reception is pretty patchy. However, with lots of swimming holes, bush walks and fishing opportunities nearby, we think you'll be only too happy to turn off your phone and tune into the beauty of your surrounds. But if you are after a little company, then we recommend you drop in to the Blue Duck for a beer, bite to eat and a yarn with the locals. Perched on the banks of the Cobungra River and just 3km down the road from us, it's a lovely little watering hole to while away a few hours.
Located just up the hill from the huts, The Willows offers B&B accommodation for individuals and groups. There are two sections to The Willows — the main house and the guest house.
The main house is the heart of our homestead. With a country kitchen, communal dining table, big open fire and spacious verandah overlooking a campfire and veggie garden, it's a place for eating, drinking and having fun. Meals are served in the main house and guests staying in any of our accommodation are welcome to hang out with us or do their own thing in their space.
The guest house is a two-story lodge with a wood fire, central kitchen/dining living area, two shared bathrooms, and six rooms made up in a range of sleeping configurations. These include: three rooms with a double bed, one room with a queen-sized bed and an additional single bed, one room with a double bed and an additional single bed, and one room with three single beds. There are another two single beds downstairs in the living area of the guest house that can made up if needed. These rooms are available for individuals and groups. If you'd like exclusive use of the guest house, please get in touch well in advance of your intended stay to secure a booking on: (03) 5159 7241 or firstname.lastname@example.org
